Make the Most Out of Scrum.org Courses by Preparing in Advance

We wanted to ensure that you will be ready for the class, and for that reason we have prepared a short checklist for you to consider. Please ensure you are meeting the technical prerequisites and get acquainted with the environments we will be using during the course.

Technical Prerequisites for Online Classes

Please ensure you are meeting following technical prerequisites when atteding an online class:

  • You are taking part in an interactive hands-on course so please have a computer at your disposal.
  • Screen size matters. Though you can run the training on a typical laptop, it is advised to use a large screen especially for Mural exercises.
  • Please ensure you have a good internet connection. We recommend using a wired instead of wireless connection if possible.
  • You need to have a high-quality camera. Make sure to have sufficient lighting so that everybody can see you well.
  • You need to have headphones with microphone which help to keep the background noise to a minimum. Try to find a quiet space.
  • We will be communicating and sharing screens and video all the times. Be prepared to actively participate, share screen and present some of the exercises.

Collaboration Platform for Online Classes

All interactive class exercises will be held online using Mural.
Please get acquainted with how Mural works.

Tools and Environments for Online Classes

We could be using additional online tools for the class. If instructed so in the preparation mail sent to you by the trainers, please get acquainted with these using the below-listed instructions. All credentials will be provided to you by the trainers during the class.

Zoom

We recommend installing Zoom locally

Please get acquainted with How to use Zoom.

Microsoft Teams

We recommend installing MS Teams locally. The web interface has less features.

Watch MS Teams Getting Started videos. Pay attention to videos about Channels and Channels Chats.

Azure DevOps

Watch Azure DevOps Getting Started videos. Pay attention to videos about the overall platform and Azure Boards.

Getting Familiar with Scrum

The course is based on the newest version of The Scrum Guide released on 18th November 2020, so study this guide.
For more insights, you can take a look at the previous version of the Scrum Guide from 2017 as well.

Getting Familiar with the Case Study

Case Study for APS

All instructions and tools for working on the case study will be provided during the course.

Case Study for APS-SD

You should be familiar with at least one of the below-mentioned programming languages and ideally have some experience working in a software development team. If you have any doubts about whether your current experience suffices, please contact us directly.

  • The case study is available in different flavors: .Net, .Net Core, Java, Python, PHP, NodeJS, and C++. At the beginning of the course, you will decide which technology your team will be using.
  • You need to be able to build and run code locally. We advise you to install the free Visual Studio Code editor since it is suitable for all of the above technologies.
